One of my favorite places to do happy hour is KUNG PAO KITTY 3 dollar sake and CHIMAY on tap. WIN!
This simple meal is one of my favs for so many reasons. A fresh cut of calamari is something hard to come by, in the central valley (where I grew up). And even in LA, where I reside now. Most restaurants don’t serve a calamari burger these days, because of the price points on seafood. Not that many people will spend 17 dollars on a calamari burger. When I go back to my old stomping grounds (Santa Cruz), most of my old chef friends are still cooking at the same restaurants. So even though this was not on the menu I was able to get this made for me because the house was slow and they know I appreciate a good calamari burger. WIN! Notice all the fixin’s are on the plate? All you need for this sando is some lemon juice and aoli if you want it.
Stopped at this fruit stand during last weeks road trip. Thought this was funny because the fruit is on the ground right by the gutter. But I bought one anyways, just so he wouldnt be mad that I was taking his picture. It was still one of the best mangos I’ve ever had.
Sunday Breakfast with some friends. Nothing special here. Just some comfort food to get this lazy Sunday started. Eggs, bacon, and grits with pepper jack cheese.
